Georgia authorities said the 27-year-old Colombian was charged on 1 May in Effingham County after Michael Sharpe, 47, a father of two, died following a head-on collision.
Sheriff's officials said Janamejoy Jansasoy crossed the centre line in a Ford Escape, hit Sharpe's Chevrolet Silverado, and was arrested after allegedly trying to leave hospital before discharge.
