Across 88 weekly pop-up markets in 15 central and eastern North Carolina counties since November, the partnership distributed 151,623 servings and more than 23,000 pounds of food.
The pay-what-you-can markets sold food at about 30% below traditional grocery prices, with 19,619 pounds of produce among items delivered after traveling 7,140 miles.
The groups say demand is rising as one in seven North Carolinians face food insecurity, while food distributed through their effort increased 39% over the past year.
