At Moulton Farm in Meredith, diesel topped $5 a gallon, while greenhouses use 700 to 1,000 gallons weekly, owner John Moulton said.
Hassan met the Moulton family, the New Hampshire Farm Bureau and other regional farms to hear how higher electricity, fertilizer and fuel costs are squeezing operations.
Farmers said the pressures are forcing tough decisions for small businesses, and Hassan said policy and politics, not just weather, are creating headwinds for local agriculture.
