Maple Leaf Foods Q1 net income falls as revenue rises

The Canadian food company reported net income of C$46.1 million, or C$0.37 a share, versus C$49.6 million a year earlier, while revenue climbed to C$962.9 million, above forecasts.
Adjusted EBITDA rose to C$122.4 million from C$115.8 million as poultry sales jumped 11.7%, helped by pricing, retail and foodservice volumes, though promotions and weaker Prepared Foods volumes limited gains.
