The Atlanta-based children's-wear retailer gained 6.5% to $35.50 premarket after adjusted earnings of 39 cents a share beat FactSet estimates of 13 cents and sales reached $681 million.
Net income fell to $14.3 million from $15.5 million a year earlier, but first-quarter sales rose 8.1% and comparable US store and digital sales jumped 10.5%, topping analyst expectations.
For 2026, Carter's forecast low- to mid-single-digit sales growth from 2025 revenue of $2.898 billion, while analysts on average expect annual revenue of about $3.004 billion.
