The change takes effect on 1 June, as Ulmer retires after more than 30 years and Sanchez moves from leading Lockheed's Skunk Works unit.
Aeronautics is Lockheed Martin's largest business segment, with more than 35,000 employees and over $30 billion in 2025 revenue, out of roughly $75 billion companywide.
Ulmer has led the division since February 2021. Sanchez, a retired US Air Force colonel and former F-22 pilot, joined Lockheed Martin in 2014 after more than a decade in service.
