Southern Co. stock falls 2.49% and trails peers despite market gains

The shares closed at $93.51 on Wednesday, while the S&P 500 rose 1.46% to 7,365.12 and the Dow gained 1.24% to 49,910.59.
It was Southern's third straight daily loss and left the stock 7.26% below its 52-week high of $100.84 reached on 16 October.
Among peers, NextEra Energy fell 0.92% to $95.39, Dominion Energy dropped 2.14% to $61.64, and American Electric Power declined 3.27% to $132.56.
