Shares fell 1.30% to $158.29 on Wednesday, despite gains of 1.46% for the S&P 500 and 1.24% for the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
The close left Vistra 27.99% below its 52-week high of $219.82 reached on 22 September.
Among peers, NextEra Energy, Southern and American Electric Power also declined, while Vistra trading volume rose to 7.4 million shares from a 50-day average of 4.3 million.
