Kansas City gas prices could hit $5, UMKC economist warns

Dr Sirisha Naidu said prices in the Kansas City area could reach $5 a gallon if the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked.
She said higher crude prices could quickly raise costs for goods from pharmaceuticals and cosmetics to plastic bags, while price falls usually come much more slowly.
Naidu said uncertainty tied to Iran could keep costs elevated, disrupt business planning, curb consumer spending and even reduce Kansas City hotel bookings before the 2026 World Cup.
