In early April 2026, Canon's PowerShot SX740 HS ranked first, ahead of Sony's ZV-1 II and Canon's IXY 650, while Panasonic, OM System and Ricoh also made the top 10.
Several leading models were out of stock, including the SX740 HS and Ricoh GR IV pair, suggesting demand is outstripping supply in Japan's compact camera market.
The rankings also showed demand for vlogging cameras, budget compacts, large-sensor models and rugged designs, as buyers seek features such as optical zoom and waterproofing that smartphones still struggle to match.
