Shares rose 1.23% to $21.41 on Wednesday as the S&P 500 gained 1.46% and the Dow added 1.24% in a broadly positive session.
Despite the advance, HP still lagged the wider market and closed 27.55% below its 52-week high of $29.55 reached on 9 September.
Trading volume reached 20.3 million shares, above the 50-day average of 18.7 million, while Apple, Dell Technologies and Hewlett Packard Enterprise also posted gains.
