Founder Alex Schinasi said the profitable, self-funded rolling tote brand launched in 2020 from her New York apartment and sold bags priced at $99 to $130.
The company now sells direct-to-consumer and through Target, The Container Store, QVC and Amazon, after initially relying on word of mouth before switching on marketing.
Schinasi says Hulken spent two years refining product, manufacturing and unit economics in a “Silent Build”, though rapid growth has also brought recurring stock shortages and production constraints.
