Atari acquires rights to first five Wizardry games and related IP

The deal covers the 1981-1988 titles, other Wizardry-related games, contract rights, and intellectual property, with co-creator Robert Woodhead and Atari chief Wade Rosen welcoming the move.
Atari said it plans to republish and remaster the games, add console ports and physical editions, and expand the franchise into merchandise, card and board games, books, comics, TV and film.
The influential RPG series has been largely unavailable for more than two decades; an updated report said the rights were acquired from Drecom, which retains Wizardry VI, VII and VIII.
