Judge Althea Drysdale sentenced the 42-year-old on Wednesday over the 2023 attack at Lexington Avenue-63rd Street station that left Emine Yilmaz Ozsoy paralysed.
Prosecutors said Semrade followed the 35-year-old commuter off a train and shoved her into a departing subway, fracturing her spine; he was convicted on 9 March.
Ozsoy told court she has undergone six surgeries, cannot work as an artist and sees the sentence as a first step toward healing, while the judge cited Semrade's lack of remorse.
