A notice on the landing page said the web-task experiment closed on 4 May 2026, after Google had expanded it to handle up to 10 tasks at once.
Mariner features had already been absorbed into Gemini Agent for actions such as archiving emails and booking hotels, while related capabilities also appeared in Google's AI-powered search mode.
Unveiled in December 2024, the project's end may clear space for new AI announcements at Google I/O on 19 May amid competition in agentic browsing from OpenAI, Perplexity and OpenClaw.
