DHS said the board unanimously pardoned Xayasounethone Chandee, a Laotian national with a 1995 removal order and three assault convictions, including two 2008 aggravated assault counts.
Acting assistant secretary Lauren Bis said the pardon removed the convictions that made Chandee deportable after he lost his green card following the aggravated assault case.
Chandee entered the US as a minor legal permanent resident, but DHS said visas and green cards can be revoked when holders commit crimes.
