The 53-year-old was discovered Wednesday near Dover, Tennessee, with authorities saying initial indications point to a self-inflicted gunshot wound and that his wife has been released from hospital.
Sheriff Frankie Gray said Berry was found several miles from home near woods where trail cameras had captured him, likely having died soon after fleeing early on 1 May.
Berry had been accused of beating, strangling and shooting his wife in the neck as she drove away, prompting a multi-agency search through rugged forest near Land Between the Lakes.
