In a call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Macron said strikes hit UAE civilian infrastructure and several ships, demanding the blockade be lifted immediately and unconditionally.
He said a French-UK maritime mission could help restore confidence among shipowners and insurers, and French officials said it could escort vessels if the US lifts its blockade.
The mission would also require Iran to reopen the strait and enter talks with Washington, as Macron said he planned to discuss the issue with President Donald Trump.
