The league published 42-question results on Tuesday, with Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers preferred to start a franchise and Chelsea Gray beating Clark 73% to 20% among point guards.
Supporters said Indiana Fever and Clark were snubbed despite the team's surge in ticket sales, merchandise and TV audiences, while the survey also favoured the Las Vegas Aces for the 2026 title.
The backlash comes days before the new season, after a 2025 campaign in which Clark missed much of the year with a groin injury and Gray won the championship.
