The workaround runs RPCS3 on PS5 systems with firmware 3.XX to 4.XX, and modder @retropierdolnik showed MotorStorm: Pacific Rift running from disc.
It requires installing Linux and providing a user-owned decryption key, making setup unofficial, technically demanding and likely unusable on updated consoles or newer PS5 models.
The project offers the closest substitute yet to PS3 backward compatibility long sought by PlayStation fans after Sony never added native support for the older console's physical library.
