The May 1 pass used Juno's Stellar Reference Unit to photograph Thebe from about 3,100 miles away at roughly 1.9 miles per pixel.
Thebe, Jupiter's second-largest inner moon, lies near the planet's faint ring system and is thought to help form the gossamer ring by shedding dust.
Built for star-field navigation, the low-light instrument also has supported science, including imaging Jupiter's rings and helping detect shallow lightning in the giant planet's atmosphere.
Juno found lightning a million times stronger than Earth's. What does this reveal about extreme weather on other worlds?
As Juno reveals Jupiter's secrets, why do budget cuts now threaten its groundbreaking mission?
