At Tuesday's media scrum before UFC 328 in Newark, New Jersey, Strickland lashed out after Allen, part of Khamzat Chimaev's camp, questioned whether he would back up his talk.
Allen said Chimaev's team laughed off Strickland's threats and claimed past sparring showed Strickland struggled, while urging teammates not to jeopardise Saturday's middleweight title fight.
The exchange revives bad blood from their 2020 bout, won by Strickland via second-round knockout, and adds to an increasingly heated build-up to his title challenge against the undefeated Chimaev.
