Morningstar said the 11-asset portfolio returned 18.3%, versus about 17% for US stocks and 13.3% for a traditional stocks-bonds mix.
Gold surged nearly 70%, while developed-market and emerging-market non-US stocks rose 33% and 30%, helped partly by a weak dollar.
Despite 2025's gains, Morningstar said the classic 60/40 portfolio has still beaten the broader mix over three- and five-year periods, while bonds again cushioned many weekly stock declines.
