Speaking on SiriusXM on Tuesday, Preece said Sunday’s Texas contact came after Gibbs nearly cleared him into Turn 3 and he chose not to lift.
The No. 60 driver said Gibbs had to live with the “repercussion” because of their past issues, while Gibbs responded online, “Hmm, at least he is honest.”
Preece said such payback reflects an unwritten racing code and suggested Gibbs, one of NASCAR’s younger drivers, may still need to learn when to give rivals breaks.
