In a prerecorded interview aired Tuesday from the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, Obama called New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani an “extraordinary talent.”
Asked about tensions between centrist and progressive Democrats, Obama said he was not worried about a true rift and argued the party broadly agrees on fairness, wages and dignity.
Colbert said Mamdani speaks plainly about problems such as housing affordability, and Obama said Democrats should talk to regular people in plain English rather than like a “college seminar.”
