Falkirk Sheriff Court sentenced the former North Lanarkshire Council leader, 30, to 18 months and put him on the sex offenders register after also convicting him over unwanted sexual messages to seven teenagers.
The offences spanned 2011 to 2021; Linden, convicted in March after a seven-day trial, was acquitted on one further sexual assault charge and five charges of stalking and sexual communication.
Linden resigned as council leader in 2022 after allegations emerged. First Minister John Swinney has ordered an independent review of the SNP complaints process after claims warnings were ignored.
