The FAA said Endeavor Flight 5289 was nearing Runway 22L at about 5:15pm Monday as the Cirrus prepared for Runway 22R in New York.
Controllers issued traffic advisories, both pilots reported each other in sight, and the FAA said required separation was maintained, though the Endeavor crew also received a collision-avoidance resolution advisory.
The incident adds to scrutiny over US aviation safety after another JFK close call last month and a separate Newark-area landing mishap on Sunday involving a United flight.
