Philippines urges Myanmar to grant Asean envoy access to Aung San Suu Kyi

In a Wednesday foreign ministry statement, Manila also sought transparency over Suu Kyi's transfer to house arrest and asked that she be allowed to contact her family.
The Philippines said such steps would show a genuine commitment to national reconciliation in Myanmar, where the detained former leader remains cut off from public view.
The appeal adds to regional pressure on Myanmar's military authorities to cooperate with Asean diplomatic efforts and clarify Suu Kyi's status and treatment.
