Speaking from the White House, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tehran faced growing isolation, economic collapse and ultimately “total defeat” if it refused to negotiate.
He said Iran must “accept the reality of the situation” and act for its people, accusing the regime of indifference to sailors on commercial ships and to wider economic disruption.
Rubio said the fallout was melting down economies around the world, including those of Iran’s allies, as Washington stepped up pressure for Tehran to return to talks.
