CEO Asha Sharma announced the shift on Tuesday, about two months after Microsoft said Copilot would reach Xbox Series X|S later in 2026.
Sharma said Xbox is changing course to move faster, strengthen ties with players and developers, and remove features that no longer fit its strategy.
The decision comes with a leadership reshuffle bringing in several former Microsoft CoreAI executives, while leaving Copilot's wider future at Microsoft unclear.
