New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced the move on Tuesday after reorganising the platform team and adding executives from Microsoft's CoreAI unit.
Sharma said Xbox must move faster, strengthen community ties and reduce friction for players and developers, retiring features that no longer fit its direction.
The reversal scraps plans Microsoft promoted last year and reiterated in March for Copilot for Gaming to reach current-generation Xbox consoles in 2026.
