Thailand Cabinet approves cancellation of 25-year-old MOU44

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the move was approved at Government House and is not tied to tensions with Cambodia, with formal effect pending notification to Phnom Penh.
He said MOU44 had produced no progress in 25 years and Thailand would instead use UNCLOS as a common framework if future talks resume.
Anutin said there are currently no negotiations, though he may meet Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the May 7-9 ASEAN Summit, while Thai security agencies continue monitoring the border.
