Experts condemn Timmy whale rescue after tracker fails

Three days after the young humpback was released off Denmark in a €1.5m mission, his location and condition remain unknown, and financiers Karin Walter-Mommert and Walter Gunz have disowned the release.
Germany's Oceanographic Museum said Timmy was highly likely dead and demanded tracker data, while a vet said she was barred from approving the final release and objected to the whale being released backward.
Timmy had been stranded repeatedly since 23 March near Lübeck and Wismar, and Danish authorities had already said they would not intervene again if he got into trouble.
