From 19 May, Main Cabin and Delta Comfort passengers on flights of 350 miles or less will get no food or drinks, while 14% of roughly 5,500 daily flights gain full service.
Delta said about 9% of daily flights will lose service, though first-class passengers will still receive full onboard offerings regardless of distance.
The airline said the change standardises service across its network, replacing limited express offerings on many short routes as carriers keep adjusting onboard service for efficiency and customer expectations.
