In Nashville, Taylor was sentenced to 35 years without parole for the 2023 killing and three years for aggravated assault after Ludwig, 18, was shot while jogging near Belmont University.
Prosecutors said Taylor fired at rival gang members, missed and struck Ludwig in the head; her parents condemned him in court and said Nashville's justice system had failed to stop a repeat violent offender.
Taylor had prior violent charges, including a 2021 firearm case dismissed after he was found incompetent to stand trial. Ludwig's death helped spur Tennessee's 2024 "Jillian's Law" on supervision and treatment.
