The system is already operating in select countries and will estimate age from cues such as height and bone structure, alongside text and interaction analysis.
Accounts flagged as possibly under 13 will be deactivated unless users pass Meta's age-verification process, and the company plans to extend the technology to Instagram Live and Facebook Groups.
Meta also expanded stricter Instagram Teen Accounts to 27 EU countries and Brazil, and is bringing the system to Facebook in the US, amid mounting child-safety lawsuits and a $375 million New Mexico penalty.
