Launched in 2019 with five years promised, the phone gets its final update by June 2026 before support ends in August.
The modular handset helped define Fairphone's repairable design approach, while the Fairphone 3+ added camera and audio upgrades without breaking compatibility with existing hardware.
Fairphone says the model also supported its living wage and refurbishment programmes, and may remain usable through community operating systems including LineageOS, /e/OS and postmarketOS.
