Marcos Jr says Philippines must deepen cooperation with Japan

Speaking in Manila on Tuesday, Marcos told visiting Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi that both US treaty allies should strengthen ties.
He said closer cooperation in Asia was needed because the United States was devoting much of its attention to Iran and the wider Middle East.
The remarks underscore Manila's push to reinforce regional security partnerships as concerns grow over whether US strategic focus is being stretched beyond Asia.
