UX designer Lawrence Yang said the compact SteamOS gaming PC has slipped beyond its early 2026 target as memory shortages and price hikes hit production.
Yang told PC Gamer the component crunch affects anything Valve makes using those parts, echoing February warnings that some Steam Deck OLED units could go out of stock.
The shortages are linked to AI data-centre demand, though rumours of large warehouse deliveries have fuelled hopes of a summer release for one of Valve's three planned hardware launches this year.
