The blast happened on Sunday at Starbase in Texas, about a week before Starship's 12th test flight, currently scheduled for 12 May with a 13 May backup.
Video showed water shooting upward and an unidentified object thrown from the deluge farm before the system shut down. It is unclear whether the incident will delay the launch.
SpaceX had already disclosed deluge-system aborts during two B19 booster static-fire attempts. The system was added after Starship's 2023 debut damaged the launch pad without water suppression.
