Activision drops PS4 and Xbox One for next Call of Duty

In an X post on Monday, the publisher denied rumours that the 2026 release, widely speculated to be Modern Warfare 4, was being playtested on PS4.
The move ends 12 years of Call of Duty releases on Sony and Microsoft's last-generation consoles after fans complained ageing hardware hurt performance and limited the series.
It leaves millions of PS4 players needing newer hardware to access the latest multiplayer entry, while questions remain over a possible Switch 2 version and Game Pass availability.
