Labor unions and workers stage Ball Without Billionaires protest at Met Gala

The downtown New York show on Monday includes Amazon, Whole Foods and Washington Post workers modelling ethically made clothing against Jeff Bezos's role as main benefactor and honorary chair.
Organisers including SEIU, the Strategic Organizing Center and the Amazon Labor Union say the protest highlights warehouse safety concerns, alleged labour abuses and widening inequality tied to Amazon.
The backlash has not stopped the Met Gala, the Costume Institute's main fundraiser, from charging $100,000 a ticket after raising a record $31 million last year.
