Puerto Rico labour department activates aid for Spirit Airlines employees

Secretary María del Pilar Vélez Casanova said affected workers can apply for unemployment benefits online through trabajo.pr.gov after Spirit halted Puerto Rico operations.
The department also deployed staff across the island to provide direct guidance on job placement, counselling, PERFIL registration and other recruitment initiatives for laid-off employees.
Support is available through offices in Arecibo, Caguas, Coamo, Fajardo, Mayagüez, Ponce and San Juan, as the government seeks to ease the impact on workers and their families.
