Central Command said two US-flagged merchant vessels and Navy destroyers passed through on Monday under Trump's new Project Freedom, involving 15,000 troops, more than 100 aircraft and unmanned systems.
Iran warned any foreign force entering the strait would be attacked, urged coordination with Tehran and said usual routes remained hazardous, while a maritime centre advised ships to use Oman waters because of mines.
