Iran executes three men over anti-government protest violence

The men, named as Mehdi Rassouli, Mohammad Reza Miri and Ebrahim Dolatabadi, were hanged over unrest in Mashhad after the Supreme Court upheld their sentences.
Authorities said two were Mossad agents involved in violence, Molotov attacks and the killing of a security officer during protests that peaked in January after beginning over living costs.
The executions add to a widening crackdown since the war began on 28 February, with rights groups alleging unfair death sentences and reporting at least 1,639 executions in Iran in 2025.
