West Midlands Police said the man fell several floors at the Henman & Cooper building on Colmore Row in Birmingham city centre on Sunday evening and was taken to hospital.
Officers and other emergency services remained at the scene while police investigated the circumstances, with the building cordoned off.
The venue said it would close for the evening because of unforeseen circumstances after advertising a DJ event due to start at 16:00 BST.
