In Finland, 29 recreationally active adults cycled at about 80% peak effort and lasted roughly 36 minutes with chosen music versus 30 minutes in silence.
The study, published in Psychology of Sport and Exercise, found heart rate and other physical markers stayed similar, suggesting music changed perceived effort rather than physical capacity.
