Federal officials said 34 people were infected, while Chattanooga physician Matthew Hitchcock warned healthy-looking chickens can still carry the bacteria.
The bacteria can spread through direct contact with birds or contaminated environments, and infections can be especially severe for young children, older adults and immunocompromised people.
