At the EUROMETAL Steel Net Forum Iberia in Santander, delegates said steel prices should stay elevated, fluctuating by €5-10 a tonne, while Iberian stocks remain high but healthy.
Industry representatives said restocking since mid-2025 has improved companies' finances, lifted volumes and margins, and increased demand for higher-standard products despite a difficult global backdrop.
They said regionalisation and tighter trade rules should curb imports and favour value-added local supply, though inflation, oversupply and possible consolidation in Spain's large distribution sector remain risks.
