Marco Rubio plans Rome visit for talks with Vatican and Italy

Rubio's staff sent details to Italian counterparts last week, and he may also meet Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during the trip later this week.
The visit follows clashes between Donald Trump and Meloni over the Iran war, as well as her defence of Pope Leo XIV.
Earlier reports said meetings were expected on May 7-8 with Pope Leo, Antonio Tajani and other Italian and Vatican officials as Washington seeks to ease strains with European allies.
